Two Weeks

Logan is two weeks old today- time is just flying by! He went for his two week checkup today, and the doctor confirmed what we already knew- Logan is perfect! Our completely biased opinion is that he is the most beautiful, smartest, and sweetest baby ever born. Here are his statistics:

Weight: 9 lbs., 9 oz. (79th percentile)

Height: 21 1/2 inches (89th percentile)

Head Circumference: 38 cm (81th percentile)

The doctor told us that the goal at 2 weeks is to be back at his birth weight, and Logan is 9 ounces above that. So, he is eating very well! He measured 21 1/2 inches long, compared to measuring 20 1/4 at the hospital. We think the hospital did not measure correctly because he looked so long from the beginning. Either that, or he is growing like crazy and has grown 1 1/4 inches in only two weeks!

Here are some things we have already learned about our sweet Logan:

- he has two dimples (one on each cheek) like his mother
- he can already turn on both sides
- he loves to have his arms free and sleeps with them above his head most of the time
- he likes to be held
- nothing wakes him up until he is ready, especially during the day
- he likes being outside--- we can take him outside when he is crying and he usually stops (at least temporarily)
- he loves to stretch and does so very often
- he loves his swing and his bouncy seat
- he also likes music and being sung to

Logan is a very happy baby and usually only cries when something is wrong. Usually the "something wrong" has to do with either hunger or him preparing a dirty diaper for his parents. We love him so much and enjoy taking care of him and seeing what new things he does each day.

Logan's Birthday- July 8, 2010

Logan's birthday started very early for his parents. The doctor had scheduled an induction, and the very busy hospital worked us in to start at 3:00 a.m.! So, here I am arriving at Labor & Delivery at 3 a.m. It was a very calm way to start the day, and we have no complaints about our early arrival time. There was no traffic, and we parked in the garage and calmly walked (or in my case, waddled) into Labor & Delivery at Methodist Germantown. No one else was there, so we were taken back almost immediately.

Here is Brian and me after we got checked into our room. I already look so tired! We are ready to meet our sweet Logan.

Everything that happens after this is not documented by pictures, per my request! After a very long labor (16 hours), including 2 hours and 15 minutes of the hardest work I have ever done, our sweet Logan James Tucker entered the world at 7:01 p.m. He weighed 9 pounds even and measured 20 1/4 inches long. I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on him- he was screaming as loud as he could, and I thought he was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen (even before he was cleaned off!). I got to hold him for a few minutes, and then they took him to get checked, weighed, and cleaned off. Brian kept checking on both of us while the doctor was still with me, and I told him not to worry about me- just make sure Logan is OK and not by himself! Brian then got to hold Logan for about 15 minutes while I was still with the doctor, and I have to say having them sit beside me was probably the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed and is something I will never forget. Here are some first of the first photos of our sweet baby.

We are absolutely in love with him. Logan had so many visitors from friends and family in the hospital and after we have returned home. He is definitely one loved little boy! We are enjoying every minute with him and cannot wait to see what he does next.

Logan's Nursery

Decorating Logan's nursery has been so much fun! From early in my pregnancy, I began looking at furniture, bedding, and other nursery decor online and in stores. By the time we found out we were expecting a boy, I knew exactly what I wanted! I wanted Logan's nursery to be one that could grow with him into a toddler room without looking too much like a baby's room. I am very pleased with the results! Here are some pictures of the room.

We painted a daybed that we already had to include in his room. This recommendation to have an extra sleeping spot in the nursery for the early weeks and months came from several friends with lots of experience!
