Christmas Celebrations 2012

We had a fun and busy Christmas season!  Our celebrations started Saturday at my Dad and Sandra's in McKenzie.  We then had dinner at Aunt Alice's on Christmas Eve and breakfast at our house on Christmas morning with my Mom's side of the family.  We ended our Christmas celebrations at Brian's parents' house on Christmas night. We had a great time despite a little sickness hitting the family.  It is hard to keep a 2 year old well this time of year! Here are some pictures of all of the fun.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends this time of year and always!

Logan got some new underwear in his stocking, and he clearly does not know their use yet. He kept saying, "I've got my Star Wars on."  No idea where that came from!

Uncle Jason joined in on the underwear/Star Wars fun!

Logan found Aunt Alice's hat. I think he is ready for the Derby!

Logan thought his Daddy should try on the hat, too.

My sweet baby was so excited about his garbage truck and cement mixer on Christmas morning, even though he was not feeling his best.

Christmas Cookies

A couple of weeks ago, I let Logan decorate some cookies for Christmas.  It was a big mess, but we had a great time!

He said, "Can I eat this paint, Mommy?"

Our hands are very dirty!

Visit with Santa Claus

This year we went to see Santa Claus at Bass Pro Shop.  Logan is not scared of very much anymore, but we still did not know how he would react to Santa.

I thought this was a pretty good picture!  It is hard to get Logan to smile for any picture willingly.  He was cautious of Santa but not really scared.  He did not reach for me until Santa said, "Ho, Ho, Ho!"

Logan's 1st Christmas Program

On Friday, December 7, Logan had his first Christmas Program at school.  His school starts at age two and goes through Kindergarten.  Brian and I were both in attendance, in addition to Logan's Mimi (Brian's mom).  We were excited to see his first performance!  After Logan telling me all week he was not going to sing, we were anxious to see how it would go.

The two year old class was first on the program, and they all walked in and looked absolutely terrified.  Below is a picture of part of his class ready to sing.  Logan's cousin Kaylie is sitting beside him.  None of them really sang at all- they just looked like this...

All was OK until Logan spotted me in the second row.  I waved at him, and he gave me a slight smile before his face turned upside down and the tears started!

He proceeded to cry through all three songs while Kaylie was saying, "Lolo's crying. Lolo's not singing."  Keep in mind, they are supposed to be singing Jingle Bells while all of this is going on!  At the end of the performance, Ms. Erica had to carry Logan to the back of the sanctuary with his class.  You can see him looking directly at me and wondering why he cannot come sit with me.  Poor baby!

After everyone continued to hear Logan's tears from the back of the sanctuary, I went out back to sit with him for the remainder of the program.  He told me, "I cried up there."  When I asked him why he could never give me a reason!  He was pretty happy once it was all over and it was time for the cookie party with family as you can see below.

Let's hope the 2013 Christmas program has fewer tears from our sweet boy!

Our big boy!

Logan is almost 2 years and 5 months old, and I thought it was time for an update on the sweet things he has been doing lately.  Like I have said before, the "terrible two's" have not been terrible at all! Everyone says to wait until he is 3, but for now we are enjoying this sweet stage.  With that being said, we are working on discipline and dealing with those toddler tantrums. But, overall this is an awesome age!

 Our sweet boy at Thanksgiving

Logan loves all things transportation.  His favorites include garbage trucks, airplanes, and "choo-choo trains."  His favorite thing to do at his Mimi's on Tuesdays is watch the garbage truck pick up the trash.  On the way to school/work everyday, we look for garbage trucks.  He can spot airplanes when they are barely visible to the eye, and he looks for trains daily when we cross over the "choo-choo train tracks."  He also loves motorcycles, tractors, dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators (a new one for me), and crane trucks.  Logan has a couple of books that have taught him all of these names.  No wonder all of these toys are available for little boys!  Maybe Santa Claus is paying attention.

Logan loves to sing! His favorite songs include Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Old McDonald Had a Farm, Wheels on the Bus, Go Tigers Go (U of M fight song), Amazing Grace, Jesus Loves Me, and some song about an alligator snatching a monkey out of a tree that he learned at school.  The jury is still out as to whether or not he got my ear for music (or his Dad's), but his love for music certainly comes from me!  We seldom have a car ride without singing involved.

Logan is starting to get a big imagination.  Tops to his squeezie fruits are twinkle stars one minute and cupcakes the next.  A box is a shower and then it is a tractor.  A balloon is a baby sleeping when wrapped in a blanket.  And, he is constantly making coffee and hot tea in his kitchen.  It is funny to see what he will come up with next!

Logan at Bass Pro Shop- he loved the four wheeler!

His vocabulary expands daily.  Logan talks in full sentences and his speech is becoming much more clear.  He learns new words everyday and is curious as to what things are and how they work.  He loves to read books and even "read" a book to me tonight that he had memorized. It is a long book (for a 2 year old) called "Good Night, Good Night Construction Site" that we have only had a couple of weeks. I was shocked to learn he knew most of the words!

We are enjoying life with our sweet boy and look forward to many more sweet years!

We're Expecting!

Our family is expanding, and we are very excited!  Baby #2 is due June 25.  I feel 90% sure it is a boy and will be surprised if it is not! I cannot even find girl names that I like, so that would be a challenge if we are surprised.  However, we will be thrilled no matter the gender!

Logan seems to understand somewhat about the baby, but I know he will not fully understand until the baby arrives.  This week he has wrapped up a balloon in a blanket and said it was a baby sleeping.  He keeps telling me I have a baby in my belly button and he has one in his too.  Two year old are so funny!

I tried to get a cute picture of Logan & the ultrasound picture, and this is what I got.  Logan wanted to pull the picture off the sheet, so I just had to hold it up.  Not very good but you get the idea!

Super Logan! Halloween & Zoo Boo

Super Logan was the costume of choice this year for my sweet boy! He does not like to wear anything on his head, so I wanted a costume that did not require it.  He looked adorable and had a great time "getting some more candy" (as he said over and over) at the neighbors' houses.

Here are some pictures of Logan's last two Halloween costumes.  Time flies!

Halloween 2011: 15 months old

Such a cute little pumpkin!

Halloween 2010: 3 months old

Look at those chunky legs on that spider!

Last weekend, we went to Zoo Boo at the Memphis Zoo! We had a great time.  John, Debbie (PawPaw & Mimi), Greg, Megan & Kaylie joined us.

Logan & Kaylie love each other so much. They had a great time riding in the wagon together!

Kaylie was happy to pose for pictures! I guess that is a difference in boys and girls. Such a pretty girl!

Meanwhile, this energetic boy was on the run.
