Memorial Day Weekend!

Happy Memorial Day! It is such a beautiful day today (albeit, a little hot), and we decided to take Logan to the park.  It was Logan's first time on a swing, and he loved it!

And, here is is with his Daddy on the slide.  He loved it the first time, but then was not too interested in it after that.

We spent most of the weekend with my Mom's side of the family at the lake.  Logan's first boat ride was last August when he was only five weeks old.  This year was much different!  Here he is helping Bess drive the pontoon boat.  He loved the wind and looking at the other boats but was not a fan of having to wear a life jacket the entire time.  I am going to try to find one that is more comfortable and conducive to crawling/walking before our next trip.

We had a great weekend and are enjoying a quiet afternoon at home now!

10 Months Old on Mother's Day!

This post is a few weeks late, but Logan turned 10 months old on Mother's Day!

It was a great first Mother's Day for me, and I enjoyed spending it with lots of family members.  I always knew I wanted to be a Mom, and I did not realize how little I really knew about it!  It is the most rewarding job I have ever had, but it is also the hardest.  Sweet Logan requires almost constant care and attention, and I love giving him loves of love!  I am honored that God gave me the privilege of being his Mother.

Here is a picture of my sweet boy and me on Mother's Day:

Here are some things Logan has been up to this month.  I cannot believe he is 10 months old!
  • Cruising EVERYWHERE! He can walk while holding on to most anything.
  • Becoming a very fast crawler.
  • Being a tough little boy! He rarely cries when he falls- only when he hits his head pretty hard. Every time he falls, we tell him "you're OK!," and he carries on playing with barely a hitch.  He is one tough cookie!
  • Exploring everything in sight. He is very curious and wants to see and touch everything around him.  His musical table plays a song with the lyrics, "Busy, busy, busy, busy, there's so much to do..." and these lyrics certainly apply to Logan!
  • Talking even more.  He has said lots of things like "Mama," "Baba," and much more! Still no "Dada" yet, though.
  • Loving to be read to.  His favorite book is Dr. Seuss's "Oh the Thinks You Can Think!"  We read this every night before bed, and he just smiles and giggles at the pictures.  He does not have that reaction to any other book!
  • Finally sleeping through the night again.  We took about a month-long hiatus from a full night's sleep when Logan started moving more and standing up in his bed.  The doctor told us at the 9 month check-up that this could happen and was normal.  So glad we are finally sleeping again!
We are now planning Logan's 1 year birthday party- I just cannot believe we are so close to that big milestone!

Fun with Solid Foods: Part 3

At Logan's 9 month check-up, the doctor said it was time to start giving Logan more table foods.  We had give him a few things prior turning 9 months old, like a real banana and avocado.  But now, he has been eating lots of new foods!

Let me start by saying that Logan loves just about every food he has tried!  He eats every single baby food fruit, vegetable, cereal, and yogurt you can imagine.  The only thing I had a hard time getting him to take was formula, but he finally had adjusted and is getting a couple of bottles of formula during the day.  He is such a good, healthy eater!

A couple of weeks ago, Brian and I were having rotisserie chicken, sweet potatoes, and a salad for dinner.  I decided it was the perfect table meal for Logan to try!  I started by giving him a small bites of chicken, and he was eating it faster than I could tear it up!  Then, I spooned some sweet potato onto his tray and gave him a little bit of shredded cheese from the salad.  He absolutely loved it!  He would eat a few bites and then wave his hands in the air (which is what he does when he is excited!).  Then he would take the sweet potato in his hand and mix it with cheese before eating.  It was very sweet.

Here is a sweet picture of Logan enjoying his dinner:

Since then, Logan has had soft cooked carrots, apples, black-eyed peas, green peas, and more.  He has loved everything, just as expected.  I hope he always has such a good appetite for healthy food.

Trip to the Zoo!

We are now members of the Memphis Zoo! We had planned on joining for a while, and we finally did this week.  We are lucky to have such an awesome zoo less than three miles from home.  On Saturday afternoon, we took Logan for the first time.  Logan enjoyed watching the people as much as he did the animals, and we enjoyed watching his reactions!

Here is Logan in front of the Northwest Passage...

Looking at the waterfall with Daddy in the Teton Trek...

And checking out the giraffes...

We had a great time and look forward to many more zoo visits!

Easter

We had a great first Easter as a family of three!  Brian and I started the weekend with an awesome Good Friday service at our church (Highpoint Church), and then we headed to Bruceton for the weekend on Saturday.  On Sunday we attended my home church- First Baptist Church Bruceton.  It was our first time to take Logan there, and it was so great to see everyone!

Here is a picture of my family on my Mom's side except for Aunt Alice- she was taking the picture!

Logan was not feeling well on Easter (thought it was ears, but turns out it was strep throat- yuck!), so we did not take a lot of pictures.  However, here are a couple in his "Easter outfit" from a few weeks earlier- courtesy of Betwixt and Between Photography.

And, of course, Logan had a visit from the Easter Bunny!
