My one year old has an obsession...
Yes, that is a microwave, and Logan is obsessed! When he walks into any kitchen, he immediately locates the microwave and begins to point and waive. He then proceeds to run to Brian or me and lift his arms signaling us to pick him up so he can investigate further (i.e. push buttons, open and close the door-- you get the idea).
How did Logan become obsessed with the microwave? We think it started when he was about 3 months old. His Mimi (Brian's mother) keeps him during the week, and she would warm his bottle in a crock pot and set the timer on the microwave. When I was not around to feed Logan, Brian would also warm his bottle by setting the microwave timer. From a very young age, he learned that the counting down on the microwave meant something related to his bottle.
Fast forward to Logan's first birthday and his transition to whole milk. For the first couple of weeks, we warmed his bottles of milk in the microwave. He always wanted to help by opening the microwave, watching and waiving during the 40 second countdown, and then opening the microwave to reveal a warm bottle.
Now Logan is drinking the milk cold, but he is still obsessed with microwaves! In the past week, he has gotten to examine two new ones- the one at his Bess's house (my mom) and one at a friend's house we visited earlier in the week. You should have seen his smile and excitement! Plus, he still has to look at the one in our kitchen at least a couple of times a day. So funny!
I just had to share this obsession because I do not want to forget about these little quirks as Logan grows up!
Since I cannot have a post without a picture, here is a cute one of Logan from last weekend eating (and LOVING) Bess's homemade spaghetti sauce:
