St. George Island Vacation

On September 29, we headed to St. George Island, Florida, for a week-long family vacation with my Dad, Sandra, Holly, Jason, and Graham.  It was a great trip with great people!

St. George Island is a small island off the coast of the Florida Panhandle in the Gulf of Mexico.  There are several local restaurants that specialize in oysters and grouper, which are often caught and served the same day.  Sandra has been visiting St. George Island regularly since the 90's, and Daddy started going with her a few years ago.  It is their favorite vacation spot, and we were so glad they invited us to join them for this fall trip!  We stayed in a house right on the beach and had a huge stretch of beach all to ourselves.  There are very few condos in St. George Island, and I have learned that a beach house is much easier with kids so it was perfect.  You don't have to get on an elevator to go back and forth to the beach with all of your stuff, and we typically have a lot of stuff.

This was Grayson's first vacation, and he was pretty easy-going all week as long as he got to bed on time!  If I had not been under an umbrella on the beach, I would have definitely had a Grayson-sized tan line because that sweet boy loves to be held by his Mommy.  He would take long naps while I relaxed, and it was great!

Logan loved the swimming pool much more than the beach and would have stayed in the "cold pool" all day long if we would have let him!  He called it the cold pool because the water was very cold, especially compared to the hot tub or "hot pool."  Logan also loved playing with his cousin Graham.  Graham was almost 15 months old on the trip, and it was probably the first time they had really played together.  I'm sure it is a sign of things to come, and one day Grayson will be joining them as well!

A favorite memory from the trip for especially Brian and Logan was chasing crabs on the beach at night with flashlights.  Brian was armed with a bucket and Logan with a shovel.  They caught crabs of all sizes, but Logan preferred the little ones he could catch on his own.  Papa Coburn said that Logan will probably remember chasing crabs on the trip even if he does not remember anything else.  He absolutely loved it!

Traveling with kiddos is exhausting, but the travels woes were certainly worth it to spend a week in such a beautiful place with my Dad, Sandra, and the Cousar's.  We had a great trip, and I am thankful for our time together!
